Sydney is originally from Tieton, Washington, and working on a research project with Dr. Sarah Burke-Spolaor titled "Supermassive Black Holes". Her research works with simulated populations of super massive black hole binaries to determine if the brightest gravitational wave host galaxies have been cataloged by galaxy surveys. Sydney plans to use this summer's REU experience to apply to graduate school.

What attracted you to this REU Program?

"I was attracted to this REU program because I found the research projects interesting. I also thought it would be cool to spend a summer in West Virginia."

Favorite Excursion?

"My favorite excursion so far is going to see the Green Bank Observatory."
