Thiago is currently working on the generation of initial data for Numerical Relativity simulations. To simulate the collision of compact objects, one has to set up the spacetime that describes the simulated system at time zero. Due to the non-linearity of the Einstein field equations, a simple superposition of two compact objects will usually violate the constraints imposed by the governing equations of the system. His research focuses on using efficient numerical grids and new algorithms to solve the constraint equations.
